Mirjana Pović lives in Ethiopia, where she uses astronomy to inspire children living on the streets, young people at the margins of society, and those living in conflict-affected areas to nurture their curiosity and continue their education. She places a strong emphasis on empowering women and girls.

We talked to Mirjana Pović, an astronomer who studies the lives of distant galaxies. She lives in Ethiopia, where she devotes a large part of her time to working with street children and young people at the margins of society and in war-affected areas—especially girls and women—encouraging them through astronomy to continue their education and expand their scientific knowledge.
